Mr. Brister is a registered Professional Geologist with 25 years experience in Western Canada (Alberta,British Columbia, Saskatchewan, NWT), North Africa and the North Sea. Mr. Brister was the President and CEO of three successful junior oil and gas producers that were profitably grown and sold over the last ten years. In that role, he gained valuable oil, gas, heavy oil and power project experience in generation, execution and management as well as capital markets experience in Canada and the United States.

Prior to founding Valiant in 2004, Peter was a Director for Oil and Gas at The Royal Bank of Scotland, with specific responsibility for North Sea structured finance. During his five years in banking, Peter was involved in several hundred million pounds of debt, mezzanine and equity fundings primarily to UK independent oil and gas companies. As a result of various equity investments, Peter represented the bank on several boards. Before moving into banking, Peter had a career spanning 12 years in the oil industry where he held senior technical and managerial roles with companies such as CogniSeis Development Inc (now Paradigm Geophysical Limited), Oil Search Limited and Premier Oil plc. Much of this time was spent in South East Asia (including Papua New Guinea and Myanmar) where he was partly responsible for several significant oil and gas discoveries. After completing an MSc at Imperial College in structural geology in 1986, Peter started his career with BP working with their research function during which time he completed a PhD which was later complemented by a Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment with the Securities Institute of Australia.

As an exploration geologist, Paul Dailly has participated in the exploration and appraisal of major discoveries from the North Sea to Southeast Asia and Africa. Dailly was the geologist and technical team leader responsible for exploration and appraisal of Triton Energy’s eight oil field discoveries offshore Equatorial Guinea. Earlier with Triton, he was involved in the acquisition and exploration of licenses in Indonesia, Madagascar and China. Following the sale of Triton to Amerada Hess Corporation in 2001, he served as Hess’s exploration technical team leader in Equatorial Guinea and later as regional exploration manager in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Before joining Triton, Dailly worked for BP, where he was involved in the exploration and appraisal of the Mungo and Monan fields in the central North Sea and the Lan Tay and Lan Do gas fields in Vietnam. Dailly began his career at BP as an exploration geologist, serving in a number of the company’s international businesses. Dailly graduated from Edinburgh University and holds a PhD in geology from the University of Oxford.

Born in Athens in 1963, Angelos Damaskos graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering in 1985, before adding to his qualifications with an MBA in International Finance from the University of Sheffield in 1989. His early career focused on M&A activity primarily concentrating on natural resources. More recently he worked as a senior banker with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development where he was responsible for some of the bank’s equity investments in Russia and the CIS. In 2004 he set up Sector Investment Managers Ltd, launching the Junior Oils Trust in October that year. Away from the office Angelos’ interests include cinema, theatre, music and shooting.

Born in India and educated at Athens College in Athens, Greece, from which he graduated cum laude, Leo Drollas attended the London School of Economics where he read economics. Having obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at the LSE, he then completed a doctorate at the same university, choosing as his research subject a country's foreign trade sector in disequilibrium. After leaving the LSE, Leo Drollas worked in London at the Commodities Research Unit and then joined British Petroleum as the company’s first econometrician. At BP he managed the energy and economic modelling team in the company’s Corporate Planning Department and was responsible for many studies on various aspects of the oil market. Whilst at BP, Leo Drollas was seconded for two years to the Confederation of British Industry, where he held the post of Deputy Director of Economics and completed two major studies – one on the attitude of British business towards exchange rates and the other comparing British and German manufacturing. In 1989 Leo Drollas joined the Centre for Global Energy Studies, a think-tank founded in that year by Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani, the former Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia. Leo Drollas currently holds the twin positions of Deputy Director and Chief Economist at the CGES, where he is in charge of all the publications and most of the studies produced by the Centre. Leo Drollas also contributes papers in his own right and has dealt with subjects as diverse as oil inventories and prices, oil prices in the long run, the demand for aviation turbine kerosene, US gasoline demand, oil’s shipping needs, oil export tariffs, oil prices and production, oil capacity utilisation and oil prices, oil pipeline tariffs, OPEC’s oil-quota policies, Asian tiger oil demand, the connection between desired oil stockcover, oil futures prices and the effect of oil prices on economic growth. Leo Drollas has co-authored with David Long of Oxford Petroleum Research Associates a major CGES study on the strategic hedging activities of oil companies. Leo Drollas has written many articles and studies on oil, energy and the economy in general, and has completed a book on oil with Jon Greenman called “Oil – the Devil’s Gold”. He has spoken at numerous conferences on diverse oil-related subjects, including the oil market in the short and long term, Asian oil demand, oil’s role in power generation, the oil futures markets, global warming and non-OPEC oil supplies. An accomplished professional chartered engineer with over 28 years of experience in a very wide range of engineering, commercial and management positions, in a variety of environments around the world. He assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer of Regal Petroleum in November 2007. In his short time at Regal Petroleum, he has been responsible for implementing a major transformation plan within the Company which, having successfully raised new share capital from international investors, is now very well positioned and resourced to embark on a major expansion of its appraisal and development activities in Ukraine, Romania and Egypt. Prior to this assignment, he worked for Shell International Exploration and Production for 28 years in Netherlands, United Kingdom, Norway, Canada, Oman, Argentina, The Philippines and Russian Federation. In recognition of his work on the Malampaya Project in the Philippines, and in particular in the sphere of sustainable development, David was awarded an OBE in the 2002 UK New Years Honours list.

Steven D. King is a financial analyst and petroleum landman/negotiator. He has thirty years of experience in the geologic, financial and economic aspects of the oil and gas industry. Since the early 1990’s, he has worked as a consultant advising domestic, international, and national oil companies that were operating in the US Outer Continental Shelf, US onshore areas, and foreign countries including Japan, Colombia, Indonesia, Yemen, Cameroon and Nigeria. Hamish graduated as a geologist from Edinburgh University in 1978, joining BP shortly after. Whilst at BP, Hamish worked as an exploration geologist in the North Sea and South East Asia, and as a development geologist in Alaska. His career in BP took a turn when he became project manager of corporate database development. After 10 years at BP, Hamish left to study for an MBA at IMD. On graduating, Hamish formed Paras Ltd and was shortly after joined by Alan Smith. Although through the early years of Paras Hamish’s skills and the services offered by Paras were synonymous, the recent growth has cause further specialisation. Outside work Hamish is happily married with three sons. He is passionate about rugby and sailing.
